Use and Installation of Engineered Wood Products Floor Systems - Level 1
Aims: This course aims to give a general introduction to Engineered Wood Products (EWP) and give the learner the capacity to correctly and safely install a floor in a real physical installation. As EWP has now become the mainstream and preferred choice for the builder, this course aims to promote safer working practices and reduce costly errors being made on site, which could undermine environmental aims such as air tightness and thermal bridging.
Requirements: Learners need to be able bodied practical individuals comfortable at working at height in external onsite conditions or in an offsite factory location. For those considering progression into more sales related activity, learners would ideally be confident individuals with good interpersonal skills, with attention to individual presentation.
Course Duration: Comprising two full days with 2 comfort breaks per day in the
morning and afternoon, and a break for lunch.
Course Content: This is a course that will be delivered in theory and practical learning
environments.
- The theory element (day one) is a classroom based course using visuals in the form of a slide show presentation, manufacturers literature and
samples. There will be tests throughout the training day and a test at the end of the day. The theory will provide learners with the ability to become conversant with the manufacturers literature and the various systems that are on the market
- In the practical element (day two) is where the learner will physically build floors from kits provided by the manufacturer. There will be initial safety briefings as safety will be a priority as this is a site simulated course. Full
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required including gloves. Floor kits will be supplied by sponsoring manufacturers and the floors will
be built upon waist height dwarf block work walls, again simulating on site practice.
Certification: Participants will be sent a certificate of attendance following
completion of this course. This course is accredited by NCFE (pending).
